  • Music camp planned for blind and visually impaired children

    Twenty-nine blind and visually impaired children from across West Virginia will sharpen their musical skills – and learn important life lessons – at WVU Eye Institute’s Children’s Vision Rehabilitation Program (CVRP) Summer Institute June 13-17 in Morgantown. Blessing Offor, a blind musician who earned national attention for his performance on “The Voice” in 2014, will coach the group in preparation for a public concert June 17 at WVU’s Creative Arts Center.

    The WVU Leadership Studies Program each year selects students to receive the Milan Puskar Leadership Scholarship based on their academic achievements and leadership skills.  The Scholarship, funded by a generous donation from Milan Puskar, provides students the opportunity to participate in a variety of enrichment activities to enhance their leadership skills.  Kensey and John are currently working on a Leadership Studies Minor in addition to their Immunology and Medical Microbiology B.S. deg

  • Immunology and Medical Microbiology student, awarded a Wegmans Internship

    Wegmans Food Markets, Inc. is a family owned supermarket chain that was founded 100 years ago in 1916. For the last nineteen years the company has been listed as a top 100 company to work for by Fortune, last year coming in at number seven. Justin will intern in the 55,000 square foot Culinary Innovation Center (CIC) that was built as a place to research and develop new prepared foods and ready-to-eat meals. Food and human safety will be a large part of Justin’s research at the CIC as a Quality Control intern.

  • Three Immunology and Medical Microbiology students awarded 2016 WVU SURE fellowships

    Abby Harold, Kensey Bergdorf, and Matthew Epperly were awarded competitive SURE (Summer Undergraduate Research Experience) fellowships for the summer of 2016.  Abby, a rising senior, will be working in the laboratory of Dr. Ivan Martinez studying the role of microRNAs in human papillomavirus infection.  Kensey, a rising junior, will be working with Dr. John Barnett studying the effects of therapeutic compounds on the growth of glioblastoma cells. Matt, a rising senior, will be working with Dr. Mariette Barbier on host-pathogen interactions in Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections.
