WVU Medicine Occupational Medicine specialists to see black lung patients in Kanawha County

When Donald Rasmussen, M.D., who was described by the New York Times as a “crusader for coal miners’ health,” passed away in July 2015, the many patients who sought him out for diagnosis and treatment of black lung disease in southern West Virginia lost their champion. As of yesterday (July 25), three WVU Medicine Occupational Medicine specialists are beginning to pick up where he left off by seeing patients at the Cabin Creek Health Center in Dawes. -
Dr. Bill Rose awarded Hero of Public Health

Dr. Bill Rose awarded the first "Hero of Public Health" as awarded by the Monongalia County Health Department. He received this award for his thoughtful and timely notification of a possible food borne outbreak. Because of his immediate efforts and astute clinical skills, a larger healthcare threat was avoided.
