    Building on a strong foundation of practice-based learning, the West Virginia University School of Public Health has added a seasoned practitioner to its leadership team who will help provide faculty and students the opportunity to teach, learn and engage in public health practice. This month, Michael Brumage, MD, MPH, executive director and health officer for the Kanawha-Charleston Health Department, joins the WVU School of Public Health as assistant dean for public health practice and service.

  • Town hall to focus on critical care and trauma

  • WVU School of Public Health welcomes new faculty and department chair

    The West Virginia University School of Public Health welcomes three new faculty members this month, including a new department chair. School of Public Health Dean Jeffrey Coben says the new faculty members will open doors to new collaborations for both faculty and students. “By bringing on high-caliber faculty members like Drs. Huzurbazar, Bhandari and Allen, we will continue to provide our students access to seasoned practitioners, researchers and experts for a balanced public health education and to build on the important work we are doing for the state’s citizens.”

  • First-year medical students participate in summer research program at WVU

    A group of first-year medical students are participating in the WVU Health Sciences Initiation to Research Opportunities (INTRO) summer program. The students were selected to spend nearly 10 weeks of their summer after the first year in medical school participating in either clinical or basic science research in a lab with a research mentor. They will receive a stipend of $4,000.

  • Nau to retire as vice president and dean of WVU’s Eastern Campus; Eggleston to serve as interim
