HIIM student recognized for saving life of drowning swimmer

Health Informatics and Information Management major Alex Dayton was recently recognized by New Jersey Legislature for saving the life of a swimmer who nearly drowned off a beach in August. E. Exercise Physiology major awarded Phi Kappa Phi Study Abroad Grant

Sierra Viands, a junior exercise physiology major from Charles Town, was awarded a Study Abroad Grant worth $1,000 from The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi—the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines. Viands is one of 25 students nationwide to receive the award. WVU Medicine otolaryngologists Steven Coutras, MD, and Rusha Patel, MD, performed the state’s first robotic tongue base volume reduction procedure to treat a patient with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).
